Layasri Leela
Designer of the "Warrior"app prototype
Hello
About my PP
For my PP, I made an app for mental-health, which will help people to cope with their depression, stress, suicidal thoughts, and controlling emotions with exercises, strategies, resources, tips and tricks to help themself. And this app is not available on Play Store since this is just a prototype, but I will let you have access to it if you would like to use it.
About myself & my motivation
The reason I chose to do this app, is because I have always wanted to make a functional app that looks somewhat professional, and also wanted to help other people and my own self in need through technology we have today while also being able to develop my own skills out of my normal activities, this may sound complicated but is pretty simple if we put the effort in and technology we have. So Personal Project was my perfect opportunity to achieve these 3 goals at once. This is what I wanted to achieve through my final product. But in process of making this product, I wanted to learn about which particular elements (e.g. mini exercises) help people cope with poor mental health and how do they do it? And to answer this in-depth, we might also look at the problem from a scientific and psychological view.

And you also wonder why I am interested and how I was influenced in making the app anyway, well, it is because my dad is a software engineer, and I have seen him do programming language, and software developing all my life, which sparked the interest in me to make a digital product, but I was not really interested in actual coding, but I wanted to make something digital, functional and interactive.
And I also wanted to make a little change in people's lives and help them & myself and that is when this idea came to mind, to make an app for mental health because I have known and came to know more about the increase in suicide rates globally and many other negative impacts on people's lives due to poor mental health, and how it changes and has a bad impact in your life in every aspect, for evidence, I myself have struggled with this for the past few years, which I do not feel so comfortable talking about, but vaguely saying, I have realised 2 years ago that I have been going through depression, anxiety and stress, whether it is because of my personal life or academic life, which got even worse during COVID-19 quarantine like it did for so many other people, so I wanted to help myself and other people in need for support mentally, so that is when I decided to make this "Warrior" app prototype, and experiencing it from a personal level is what kept me motivated.
